Preorders are open! Teased earlier in the fall of 2017, X-Plus has jumped into the first entry of the Mothra trilogy with Death Ghidorah and a new Sakai Godzilla 54 is on the way for the 30cm line.

The details for the Toho 30cm Series Yuji Sakai Modeling Collection Godzilla 1954 shows a February 2018 release date. The RIC version come packaged with light up dorsal plates and the MSRP is listed at ¥28,620 or converted to $252 before shipping. The preorder window closes on December 15 at 18:00 local time in Japan. Being that this is a Sakai release, the height of this Godzilla clocks in at 28cm tall, average for the Yuji Sakai line. Godzilla will be sporting a black and white paint scheme just like we saw him in the original film, 63 years ago!

Now, you may be asking “Why do we need another 30cm G54” or even another 54 for that matter. Well, why not?! The Sakai line is its own thing. I am not surprised to see this really. With the continued Sakai line, this just makes me hope we get some suits that don’t have as much exposure as others, then again, I won’t say no to a Sakai Burning Godzilla or Godzilla 1964! The Gigantic Series Godzilla 1954 is done by Yuji Sakai too. This 30cm version looks very similar but at a first glance, it looks much crisper. Of course this is a prototype so we will have to wait and see. Either way, I am excited (big surprise right?)!

Death Ghidorah! Friggin awesome right!? Heck yea it is. Death Ghidorah weighs into the Toho Large Monster Series (25cm scale) and as part of the Favorite Sculptors Line. I need to find out exactly what this Favorite Sculptors Line is exactly so stay tuned once I find out. Death Ghidorah will be touching down in February 2018! This is a sculpt from the GOWROW kit, much like the 25cm Keizer Ghidorah and 30cm Battra, being transitioned from resin over to vinyl. The RIC features are light up eyes and mouths! The RIC version of Death Ghidorah has a MSRP of ¥29,610 or converted to $257 before shipping.  Death Ghidorah is going to be a massive shelf hog (great..more room to find!) standing at a height of 29cm, wingspan of 68cm and 57cm from head to tail. Mama Mia! I found our new center piece for the kitchen island.  The pre-order window closes on December 4th at 6pm local time in Japan! Death Ghidorah will be produced mostly out of vinyl with an exception to the wings, which will be made of ABS plastic. ABS plastic wings are just like King Ghidorah 68, both 25cm adult Mothra’s, which is to ensure the figure maintains it integrity and insures there is no vinyl slouching and warping. The ABS production process may prove to cost more money but it is definitely the smarter road to take for these winged Kaiju! Death Ghidorah appears to sporting a deathly looking paint scheme with lots blacks and reds. I am really digging this figure. Hoping to see a Mothra Leo later next year!

As of this writing, the other online retailers such as Hobby Search of Amiami have yet to open up preorder sales for both of these items. As in the past, the Yuji Sakai Modeling Collection line has always seen a standard release so that be available soon. Death Ghidorah should be showing up for a standard release as well. Both standard version should be a few bucks cheaper than their RIC counterparts so if you are looking to save a some money, you will have that option.

X-Plus 25cm Gabara FRESH VINYL review!

Still kinda crazy to think this is my first Gabara figure. Can’t complain that its an X-Plus, quite fitting actually being that my focus on collecting has been X-Plus the past four years. BAM! You can’t go wrong with this release. You could get this right now off of Hobby Search for $102 before shipping. Best opportunity you have to get this now. If you are a Showa fan then this is a MUST HAVE vinyl figure!

X-Plus Vs 2017..and your wallet!

I feel like I don’t write anymore. Well until now because X-Plus is going to blow the shit out of our wallets. Look, I am not going to talk to you guys like kindergarteners. I am going to write this as if we are talking face to face. By the time of this writing, if you are an avid X-Plus collector like I am then you know what is coming out the end of March of this year. You don’t need me to spoon feed you information.  On to business! Forget about any re-issues. I am not talking about re-issues here. I am talking about BRAND NEW X-Plus figures that have not seen the light of day until NOW. X-Plus is hitting us hard for the month of March 2017. 25cm Keizer Ghidorah, 25cm Titanosaurus and a 30cm Burning Godzilla.

Bitching. I am glad I am in Houston, Texas right now making some extra OT because I am going to need it come the end of March.  X-Plus is smoking some serious good shit over there. Maybe inhaling too much Fresh Vinyl? Probably. They are like…”Lets slap these bitches with three Toho releases in one month!”.  Hell, if you are an Ultraman collector, that is a little easier and less painful but DAMN.  I am getting all three of the March releases. Now, that is if all three release as scheduled.  I am probably going to have to drop almost $1000 for those three after shipping and all.  CRAZY. Us collectors have to stop and ask ourselves “Should I get one? Two? All three?” I am a nut when it comes to X-Plus so I will be going after all three but I am even feeling the pressure.  I guess I can kind of look at it like this: No end of January or end of February release so…its not that bad, right? I guess it is not. It would have been easier if these were spread out a bit. My wallet is taking a breather right now but its going to get kicked in the balls come March.

Yea, X-Plus is doing big things for 2017 so far. Gabara is slated for an end of June release. ABOUT FRIGGIN TIME! I will say a few of us knew Gabara was coming because while in Osaka, Japan with Gee Okamoto from X-Plus HQ, while out to dinner at Kaiju Sakaba, I asked him if Gabara was on the way.  So excited for this figure. I currently do not own a Gabara in my collection at all so this is a very welcomed addition to Fresh Vinyl HQ. The 25cm GMK King Ghidorah was JUST teased on Feb. 3, 2017 so no info is available at this time regarding release date, price or RIC extra.  We have 5 big releases coming our way. How does this affect the way we collect? Depends on if we want a certain Kaiju and depends on our budgets. Yea, I am sure we will see plenty of these figures go up for sale a month or so after release because some people just like to dip there finger in the flavor of the month. That’s the truth, though I accept it, it doesn’t mean I have to like it but whatever. I really can’t wait for these release. I am super excited about …ALL OF THEM. Hell, Godzilla Final Wars is not an enjoyable film by any means and I have never been a fan of the design of Keizer Ghidorah because it is simply not what I think about when I think of King Ghidorah BUT this X-Plus version of the Gow Row Keizer Ghidorah is really bad ass looking. And it’s X-Plus so, you guys know I am an X-Plus whore so I gotta get it. Just look at him:

Better start saving your pennies. Any Ghidorah figure will be a lot of money. Given that both upcoming Ghidorah figures are being reproduced from form model kits, they will most likely be on the higher end of our budgets. When the Showa King Ghidorah came out, that was about $300 before shipping. The bigger the figure, the higher the shipping cost.

I haven’t even mentioned the Diamond re-issues people! Those of you that are hunting down older 30cm figures and looking to fill in gaps, the Diamond re-issues are the way to go. Good thing is those figures are readily available and very affordable. Make sure you check out Flossie’s Gifts and Vampire Robots for those pre-orders to stay current on your Diamond re-issues. I am going to need another shelf for my G-ROOM or I need to get my ass into gear and finish my basement this year. I am probably going to sell off some non essential stuff too. S.H. Monster Arts and some Bandai stuff. No X-Plus will leave my grip. Ok. I am done rambling. Bring on the X-Plus.

FRESH-

Jet Jaguar Reissue on the way from X-Plus!!

X-Plus is reissuing the 25cm Jet Jaguar!!

IMG_9226

Jet Jaguar is expected to drop at the end of June or early in July this year! The price tag for this is 12,960¥ or $118! Great price right? RIGHT! Better than some of those auctions on eBay or YJ asking for over $500!! The hell with that!!

At this time, it appears this is a RIC only reissue If this is the case, we will not see a standard available on sites like Hobby Search or Amiami. As has been with other re-issue 25cm figures (Godzilla 68, Rodan 64, Anguirus, etc), this will only be able to be purchased through the RIC site.

Jet Jaguar will feature a light up gimmick for the eyes. I’ve been saying the light up gimmick on the X-Plus figures are becoming tiresome but this is a fine example of when it will stand out!

IMG_9224

Also, the original RIC Jet Jaguar came with an extra set of arms as the standard figure comes with open hands already set in place. The RIC extra came with extra arms with clinched fists. This new RIC comes with an open left hand and a cliched fist on the right! Mix of both!!

IMG_9225

The preorder window is open NOW and it will close on May 24th at 6PM Japan time!

I have the 25cm JJ from the G73/JJ from a few years back but this is a must have for me, easily! Fresh!!

X-Plus Gigantic Series Godzilla 1962!

On April 14, 2016, X-Plus officially announced on the RIC site the release of the Gigantic Series Godzilla 1962 from 1962’s King Kong Vs Godzilla!! ギガンティックシリーズキンゴジ!!Screen Shot 2016-04-14 at 10.27.38 AM

Pre-orders are open right now for the RIC exclusive with a price point of ¥39,900 which translates to about $365 based on currency exchange rates. The window for the RIC pre-order closes on April 18th!!! That is only 4 days! The release window for this figure is looking like it will be the end of May and/or early June!! That will be a busy month for collectors with the 30cm Battra and now a Gigantic Godzilla 1962!! Start saving your pennies!!

The Gigantic Godzilla 1962 will stand 48cm tall!!! Now, just to put this into perspective, the Gigantic Series Burning Godzilla is a hair shorter at 47cm!! This Godzilla is BIG! Godzilla 62 will also be 65cm from foot tip to the tail tip(if I read that correctly)! You are going to need a big ass shelf for this big sum bitch!! Godzilla will also be made of PVC, or as I like to call it, VINYL! BAM!

Screen Shot 2016-04-14 at 10.27.51 AM

Based off the translation from the RIC site, the RIC exclusive for Godzilla 1962 will be painted dorsal plates to give off the look of charging up dorsal plates. Instead of actually putting a light up gimmick, the dorsal plates will look similar to that of the Gigantic Series Godzilla 2000, the Roaring Godzilla 2014 and the Gigantic Series Burning Godzilla. Honestly, if this figure had a light up feature, it would probably cost a whole lot more money than it already does. On another hand, to get this figure to light up sounds like a real pain in the ass at the end of the day. That is a lot of wires and lights to shove up inside this figure. I am good with the RIC gimmick that they are going for. Which one are you going to get, RIC or standard?!

Upon announcement, these photo’s for the figure are unpainted. This leaves so imagination to us collectors to visualize what this big ass figure is going to look like when its all said and done but let me ask you this, are we really doubting X-Plus? Sure, there have been some hits and misses in the past but X-Plus has a very good track record so on my own account, I am not worried about what it will look like. I am sure it will look FRESH.

What else about this figure?! This is a brand new sculpt fro Kaibutsuya, the same company behind the Gigantic Series GMK and Burning Godzilla figures. While in Japan, a few other collectors and myself had the privilege of seeing this beauty still in clay form having the finishing touches sculpted on to it. When we saw this guy, our jaw’s hit the floor. You will not be disappointed! This is also a suit accurate Godzilla where as the previous Godzilla’s in this line were stylized. It is nice to mix things up and to have a suit accurate Gigantic Series release is a great addition to the line. Maybe we will get that M1 50cm Godzilla 1964 later down the road!!!

I am also going to take a guess the legs will be reinforced to support the weight of the figure so it does not slouch or droop in the warmer months. The tail will need to be assembled right out of the box. The box will most likely be fashioned in the same manner as the GGMK and GBG. Be prepared for a big ass box too!

Screen Shot 2016-04-14 at 10.28.11 AM

X-Plus collectors thought a Gigantic Series Godzilla 1954 was going to be coming next but this came out of left field! That only means we will have a 5th release in this line later down the road with the G54. Time will tell! Amiami, Hobby Link Japan and other online retailers have not offered the Gigantic Series Godzilla 1962 just yet on their sites. Expect them to pop up in the next few days or so. Stay tuned for more pictures once they are unveiled by X-Plus!!

FRESH! I can’t wait to get this guy!
